Local Service

Why Homeowners Choose Lawn Panther for Turf Installation

Most new lawn installs fail because of timing, not technique. Bermuda planted in March dies before establishment. Fescue overseeded in August scorches before the cool down. Our licensed applicator schedules sod, seeding, and turf installation around NC soil temperature and growing-season windows so the lawn establishes the first time. We handle soil prep, grade work, irrigation coordination, and post-install care guidance — not just laying down material and leaving.

  • Bermuda and fescue installs timed to NC soil-temp windows
  • Site prep, grading, and top soil included
  • Sod matched to your site and use
  • Post-install care guidance for first-year establishment

Willow Spring’s larger rural and acreage lots — around Sunset Lake, Banks Road, and the Mims community — sit on heavy Wake County clay where seeded lawns come in thin and weedy across big open yards. Fresh sod delivers an instant, even, established lawn the day it’s laid, rooted into prepped soil so it holds up to full sun and Carolina heat.

Artificial Turf

Lawn Renovation and Replacement

For lawns past saving — heavy weed pressure, compaction, dead patches, or wrong cultivar for the site. We remove failed turf, regrade as needed, and replace with sod or seed installation matched to your site. Often the right answer when reseeding alone won’t recover the lawn.

Care Guide

How to Care for New Sod After Installation

After sod is installed, the first few weeks are critical. Use this quick care guide to help your new lawn root properly, then read the full sod care article for more details. Get the full watering, mowing, fertilizing, and follow-up care schedule for new sod after installation.

Keep the sod consistently moist, but do not let it stay soggy. Water three to four times per day for five to ten minutes, adjusting for heat, rain, shade, and how quickly the lawn dries. Avoid evening watering when possible, and keep foot traffic off the new lawn for at least two weeks.

During the second week, begin shifting toward deeper watering. Water about 30 minutes per day, and water twice daily if the sod is drying out during hot or dry weather. The goal is to encourage roots to grow down into the soil while still keeping the sod from drying out.

After about three weeks, the sod may be ready for its first mowing if it has rooted well and is tall enough to cut. Keep the mower deck high, and never remove more than one-third of the grass blade at one time. Fertilize new sod about six weeks after installation, or follow the recommended timing for the grass type and season.

New sod care is just as important as the installation itself. Read our full guide on how to care for new sod after installation for watering, mowing, fertilizing, and common mistakes to avoid.

Sod and Turf Installation FAQs

Both. We provide sod installation for instant established lawn, and lawn seeding service for cool-season fescue or warm-season bermuda establishment from seed. The right choice depends on your timeline, budget, and site conditions — we recommend per property.

Cool-season fescue sod installs best in spring (March–May) or fall (September–October). Warm-season bermuda and zoysia sod install best late spring through summer (May–August) when soil temps are warm enough for root establishment. Avoid installing in extreme heat or freezing conditions for best results.

Yes. Bermuda from seed installs in NC need soil temperatures consistently above 65°F, which means mid-May to mid-July in the Wake County area. Outside that window bermuda seed germinates poorly and won’t establish before dormancy. Our installs are scheduled to that window — not whenever the truck is available.
